Are you looking to make your next Scout meeting a roaring good time?  Why not bring your Scouts to Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo for your next meeting? 

FEE: $12 per person, which includes zoo admission (for every 5 scouts, 1 adult is admitted free).  Classes are by reservation only and there is a minimum of 5 scouts to book a scout class.  Classes can be booked on Saturday or Sunday at either 10 A.M. or 2 P.M.  Classes may be booked year-round unless otherwise noted.

 K-3rd Grade Scout Classes

  • Animals A to Z -  This workshop will take you through the basics of Zoo life and you will learn about animals and their classification.
  • Rainforest - Have you been to the rainforest?  During this Rainforest Workshop, we will venture around the world to see animals from Africa, Asia, and South America.  Did you know you have products from the rainforest in your house right now?  On our adventure, we will explore how the rainforest directly affects you and how your actions affect the rainforest.
  • Desert- How different would it be if you lived in the desert?  During the Desert Workshop, you will find out first hand what it takes to survive the heat of the day and chills of the night.
  • Ocean - In the Ocean Workshop, you will discover what adaptations sea animals need to survive in the ocean.
  • Wetlands - This Wetlands Workshop looks at the difference between wetlands and woodlands.  We will study water samples to see what lives in our ponds.  We will learn how animals depend on other living and nonliving things.  This class is only offered at the Lee G. Simmon's Wildlife Safari.  This class is not offered during the winter months.

Junior Girl Scouts and Webelos Cub Scouts
These scout classes are only offered at the Lee G. Simmon's Wildlife Safari located off of Nebraska's I-80, Exit 426.  These classes include admission to the Wildlife Safari for the day of the scout class.  Junior and Webelos Scout classes are not offered in winter months.  Note: not all requirements may be met during classes.

Boy Scouts and Cadet's Girls Scouts
These classes include Zoo Admission for the day of the class.  Note: not all requirements may be met during classes.

  • Enviromental Science Merit Badge/Eco-Action Cadet Badge
  • Mammal Study Merit Badge
  • Bird Study Merit Badge/All About Birds Cadet Badge (Only offered at the Wildlife Safari Park)

Scout Day Camps

Enjoy nature while attending a day camp developed just for scouts!  Activities include:  learning how wolves communicate, an animal encounter, learning how predators find their prey, making an animal track, and much more.  Location:  Wildlife Safari Park (I-80, Exit 426).  Cost:  $50/scout.  Bring a sack lunch and 20 oz bottle (needed for an activity).  One adult free pre scout.  Call 402/738-6908 for more information or to make a reservation.
